The company has now announced it is entering the Swedish market, but claims it will not be a direct competitor to Swedish payment companies like iZettle and Bambora, Dagens industri reports.

“The idea is for us to lay on top of their systems. They handle the payment and we build services around that,” says Christian Ziegler, co-founder and CEO of Shopbox.

The Danish startup aims to gather all the shopper’s needs in one single app. It can be anything from payments to discounts and special offers.

Shopbox now also receives an investment of estimately SEK 19 million from Swedish Zenith Ventures. For the Swedish launch the company has recruited Joachim Bäckgren from IT company Visma to lead the operation in Sweden.

In Denmark the fintech company has around a hundred bars and restaurants as its customers. Christian Ziegler says the company hopes to announce its first customer in the Stockholm region within a few weeks.
