A viral deal: Lajkat and Newsner create biggest social media network in Sweden
Two of Sweden’s biggest viral sites have started a partnership in order to become the biggest social media network in Sweden.
Schibsted-owned Lajkat and Nyheter365’s Newsner are aiming to reach two million unique visitors every week by working together.
‘‘We have the same vision of the future of advertising and we will continue to challenge and drive the market forward in terms of new advertising opportunities,’’ Nyheter365 CEO, Johan Rikner says in a press release.
The deal will see Nyheter365 handle all advertising sales and commercial collaborations, such as native advertising and campaigns, of the two sites.
Lajkat and Newsner both launched last year together with Expressen’s Omtalat. The viral sites quickly rose to become some of Sweden’s most popular online destinations.
Newsner attracts a wide audience whereas Lajkat has honed in on the 18-24 demographic.
‘‘We have big and popular sites but our reach beyond our sites [we will] much bigger,’’ Ehsan Fadakar, head of social media at Schibsted, is quoted saying in the press release.
